Playpen

This is a collection of the projects and experiments that I've been working on. Some are visual, some technical but all are interactive and playful. So have a little play around and let me know what you think.

Intersecting planes

Intersecting planes

Intersecting planes started out as a simple pencil drawing of 3 square shapes all intersecting each other in the centre at different angles. Worked up into a collage with transparent coloured paper I became fascinated by the effect caused when each section of the shape is given a different colour. In this flash version you can change the colours of the shape yourself to see what new colours are formed when they are overlapped.

This project is still in development; version 2 will allow you to rotate the shape in any direction to further explore the form and colours.

Pentominoes

Pentominoes

This is my flash version of the classic puzzle Pentominoes where you rearrange pentominoe shapes (meaning a shape composed of 5 adjacent squares) into a given shape. The pentominoes can fit into a square shape with four squares missing in any place among other things and are believed to be the inspiration behind the classic game Tetris. You'll of course also recognise them as the coloured shapes that make up the background to my site.

Am I seeing spots?

This is a very simple but amusing flash animation where as you move the curser over the screen spots appear and then fade out again.
